Booking and payments

Requirements and documents

A valid physical driving licence (digital or printed copies are not accepted). For rentals in Europe, an International Driving Permit as well. A physical credit card in the driver's name, credit only, with enough limit to cover the deposit.

Yes. Most rental companies accept drivers from 21 with a young driver surcharge.
No. Rental companies only accept credit cards.
Because the rental company places a hold as a security deposit, released when you return the car. It must be a personal card valid in the pick-up country; third-party cards are not accepted. Prepaying the rental does not exempt you from presenting it.
No. The card used at pick-up must belong to the person named on the booking.
A card accepted by merchants and banks worldwide, usually Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Diners. Check with your bank that it is enabled for international transactions.
An amount the rental company holds during the rental to cover possible damage or fines. It is released when you return the car in the agreed condition. The amount varies by company.
Only for rentals in Europe. In addition to your national licence you need an International Driving Permit, and both must be shown at pick-up. Get it before you travel.
Outside Europe it is not mandatory, but it is worth having: it speeds up the counter process, helps at police checks, and some insurers require it to cover a claim.

The car and insurance

Some companies allow it, generally for high-end cars. Most guarantee only the category, not the model.
We offer categories such as compact, intermediate, full-size sedan, minivan, SUV, luxury, special and convertible, among others. Availability depends on date, time and location.
For the city, a compact. For family or lots of luggage, an SUV or minivan. For rough terrain, a 4x4.
It depends on the rate. Most include collision damage waiver (LDW) and third-party liability (TPL), though you may want extra cover depending on your needs or local rules.
No. We do not offer rentals without insurance.
That cover does not include third-party liability and usually has deductibles that lead to unexpected charges. Claims can also take months. With us you get maximum cover on the car plus third-party liability from USD 300,000, with no deductibles or surprise charges.
GPS, baby seats, fuel, personal belongings insurance and roadside assistance are not included.
No. You can request one at the counter when you pick up the car, at an extra cost.
Breakdowns such as a flat battery, punctured tyres or mechanical problems. It has an extra cost.
It depends on the rate and the company. Some include unlimited mileage and others charge per extra kilometre.
No. Tolls are not included.

During the rental

Inspect the car for visible damage, check the fuel level and confirm the accessories you booked are there. Take photos as a record of its condition.
Yes, tell us when you book. If the car has already been collected and you want to change the drop-off, you must speak directly with the rental company and charges may apply.
Most companies allow crossing states and borders. Let us know when booking to avoid problems.
It generates extra charges, calculated per hour or per full day depending on the delay. Contact the branch where you picked up the car; the number is on your contract copy.
Tell the rental company as soon as possible. Some hold the booking for a few hours, but without notice they may cancel it and not guarantee the car.
You are charged for the missing fuel, usually at a higher price than filling up yourself. Return it with the same level you received.
Check whether a light or accessory was left on and drained the battery. If it still won't start, call the company's roadside assistance.
Call the emergency line immediately and then report the incident to the rental company. The branch number is on your contract copy.
Contact the rental company for a replacement. Additional charges may apply.
You are responsible for any traffic, parking or toll fine received during the rental. The company may add an administrative fee for handling it.
Contact the rental company directly. They charge fines and administrative fees to the registered card. If you cannot resolve it, write to us and we will try to help.
No. Most companies have a smoke-free policy and smoking can lead to extra charges.
Most companies allow them, but tell the branch where you collect the car. Return it clean and free of hair to avoid cleaning charges.
Cars are for personal use only. They cannot be used for towing, public transport or other purposes outside the rental. Additional restrictions are set out when signing the contract.
